关于than后面是否要补出宾语的问题，已混乱···！

今天看了语法jj，发现有一题和朋友有争议

1.The United states are paying 48% more out of the pocket for day care than they had in previous years
A out of the pocket for day care thanthey had
B. out of the pocket for day care than they paid

C out of the pocket for day care than what theypaid
D for day care out of the pocket than what they had paid

朋友说要加what选D，因为48% out of the pocket for day care作为pay的宾语。可我找了manhattan几个例题：I have earned a better score than you have. 都没有补出宾语。是因为时态不同吗？我觉得这题是主语在不同时态的比较，像The economy is better than it was five years ago.一样。只需要补出主语和动词。
现在已经完全混乱！大NN请快来~~~~~~~~

主要看那个从句的动词。如果是助动词 do, does, have, has, etc，就不需要。不过如果是实义动词，想着里面的paid, 就要加what 用以补足从句的宾语。

这题我也超级纠结，但是觉得还是应该选what they paid吧觉得用过去完成没什么根据啊。。。

我觉得，在比较的句子中，应该用that/those指代前面提到的部分，所以这里不能用what指代，C和D都错。况且D还用了过去完成时，时态错。out of the porket不能位于for day vare后，逻辑意思不对，48% more 是修饰它而不是for day care。than前的动词没有使用助动词have/had+分词形式，那后面也也不能用助动词表示动作，应为时态不一样。所以直接用动词过去式表示过去几年发生的事。

综上所述，选B

我感觉B. out of the pocket for day care than they paid，如果是比较谓语，按照替换和省略的原则，paid为什么不用did替换呢？
虽然我也在B和C中间纠结。
但是我估计最后可能会选C
