The earth’s resources are being depleted much too fast. To correct this, the United States must keep its resource consumption at present levels for many years to come.

(A) New resource deposits are constantly being discovered.
(B) The United States consumes one-third of all resources used in the world.
(C) Other countries need economic development more than the United States does.
(D) Other countries have agreed to hold their resource consumption at present levels.
(E) The United States has been conserving resources for several years.

怎么就选B了呢郁闷

(A) New resource deposits are constantly being discovered. new resource发不发现和原文事件无关，原文没说new resource可替代resource
(B) The United States consumes one-third of all resources used in the world.
(C) Other countries need economic development more than the United States does. other countries是个啥样和US无关
(D) Other countries have agreed to hold their resource consumption at present levels. 同理
(E) The United States has been conserving resources for several years. 保护不保护和原文无关，原文没有说保护就可以使得resource的消耗不减少。

楼主你可能想多了，不要过多的纠结推理。

这道题拢共就说了2个东西一个是地球的资源一个是美国的消耗能力
问题是找支持选项属于演绎题型那么选项必然是找和文中提到的东西相关沾边的
来看选项:
(A) New resource deposits are constantly being discovered. 说的是新资源直接排除和题目信息没有关联
(B) The United States consumes one-third of all resources used in the world. 有说资源有说美国的消耗情况留着先
(C) Other countries need economic development more than the United States does. 其他国家经济发展完全无关选项排
(D) Other countries have agreed to hold their resource consumption at present levels. 其他国家同意把他们国家的资源保留到现有水平完全无关排
(E) The United States has been conserving resources for several years.
美国已经保护资源很多年了留着先

然后比较B和E 所谓支持就是让你看了这个选项以后增加对他这段话的信任度 B说的是美国消耗了世界上1/3的资源而E说美国这么多年在保护资源相比B更好点

我是这么理解的：因为美国消耗1/3的资源，是很大的一部分，所以只要美国采取措施就改善整个世界资源的使用。试想如果是一个小国家，消耗很少资源，它再怎么节约对于整个世界的影响都是很少的，就无法correct。
