刚做了一道数学题，题目是When Leo imported a certain item, he made a 7 percent import tax on the portion of the total value of the item in excess of$1,000.If the amount of the import tax that Leo paid was $87.50, what was the total value of the item?
按照我的理解是对超过1000的item加税，税额是总额的7%，但答案的意思是税额是超高1000部分的7%。。。。有点糊涂了。。。谢谢解答~

不是就是说，税只加在超过1000元的amount上面吗？

答案是$2.250吗？
87.5/0.07 = 1250 这个是交税的部分
加上1000, = 2250吗？
