Dear fellow CDers,

We
are HBS admits this year, class of 2010. We have benefited tremendously
from CD and we are now here to relay the torch to help you pursue your
dream!

We will, on the one hand, update you with the most recent
information, and on the other hand, try our best to provide uncodified
tips and sweep off your confusions regarding application to HBS in a
timely way.

However, we also hope you understand that we also
have a life outside of CD, balancing between school, job hunting,
social activities, etc.  Hence please respect our volunteers who are
generously offering their experience and insight and make the best use
of their time.

  1. Do your own research and utilize the various resources available on CD and the internet.

  2. Read the application instructions carefully.  Requirements vary from year to year.  Do NOT rely on hearsay.

  3. Before
you ask a question, please first look through the comments and
questions others have already made and our replies, see if your concern
    has already been addressed.

  4. Please
do not expect us to assess your chance of gaining admissions or
succeeding in your career.  We can only tell you that everyone has a
chance and it's up to you to make it happen.

  5. Respect each other, please refrain from making personal remarks.

Please
also bear in mind that we do NOT work at admissions.  We were all
applicants earlier this year and have just gone through the
entire application process.  Our replies are not OFFICIAL statements,
but PERSONAL opinions. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt
and use your BEST JUDGEMENT.

Wish you all best of luck!!!

How to Prepare for the Business School Application Process (from HBS2U Newsletter)

We recognize that many of you are considering applying to business school in the coming year, for the class entering in fall 2008. Below are a few tips to keep in mind as you consider what business schools you might apply to:

    * Do your research (visit campus, explore Web sites, read articles, speak with alumni, meet with current students).
    * Determine for yourself what you want to get out of an MBA and prioritize program specifics (i.e., geographic location, class size, program length, learning model, faculty involvement), then pick schools that fit with your criteria.
    * Give yourself sufficient time to submit a thorough and thoughtful application, completing all sections: transcripts, recommendations, GMAT, work experience, community experience, and leadership experience.
    * Attend an admissions event! HBS will hold admissions events in cities around the world beginning in late summer of 2007 and continuing throughout the fall.

    Interview

After your application has been submitted and reviewed, you may be invited to an interview. The interview is an indicator of interest, but is not a guarantor of admission; it serves as one element among many that are considered as we review your application. All interviews are conducted by invitation only, at the discretion of the Admissions Board. If invited, however, you must participate in order to complete the application process.

Interviews are conducted by the MBA Admissions Board or a member of our small alumni interviewing network. Interviews may be scheduled on campus, on the telephone, or in domestic or international hub cities.

Neither the timing of your interview nor its format - in-person or by phone — implies anything about the status of your application or affects your candidacy. Invitations to interview may be extended up until the notification date of a round and are a positive indicator no matter when you receive them.

Q: When should I expect an invitation for an interview?
A: Interview invitations are extended on a rolling basis throughout the course of each application round. The timing of your interview does not imply anything about the status of your application nor does it impact your candidacy. Invitations to interview may be extended up until the notification date and are a positive indicator no matter when you receive them.

Q: What should I expect for my interview?
A: Your interview will last approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted by a member of the MBA Admissions Board or one of our Alumni Interviewers.  Interviews may take place in-person or over the phone.

Q: How can I best prepare?
A: The purpose of the interview is to better understand you as an MBA candidate for our program.  We encourage candidates to relax and be ready to talk about themselves.

    Cost and Financial Aid

    Cost Summary

To help you understand the costs associated with your education, the student budget for the class entering in 2008 for Terms I and II is outlined below. While living expenses vary from student to student, the Financial Aid and Fellowship Board uses the standard student budget in determining financial aid awards. This budget assumes a moderate student lifestyle. While the standard budget does not include the cost of a personal computer required for the MBA Program, you may finance your computer purchase with a loan.

Your tuition and Program Support Fee will remain constant during your time at HBS. Other fees may increase.
