弱问HBS 2010前辈：HBS的推荐信第二个question到底是让推荐人写虾米啊？

Please describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant's response.  (250-word limit)

俺很郁闷地产生了两种理解：

（1）推荐人在某件事（比如公司的某个project）上给了applicant一个有建设性的feedback（应该这么做），而applicant根据这个feedback做出了response，把事情搞成功鸟。

（2）在某个情况下（比如公司的某个project），applicant做出了一个response，使得事情搞得很成功。推荐人就这件事，给出一个正评价（feedback）

实在挠头哦。。。

I don't know how common it is to have a section on the application form dedicated to listing any close family members who have attended the business school you're applying to.  Since HBS is one of these schools and why would they state somewhere on their website that they do not take into any consideration whether the applicants' parents went to Harvard before? 

Could you shed us some light on this?  As current students at HBS, do you believe the school would prefer an alumni's kid over another applicant with the exactly same quality? 

个人一家之言：

HBS values more heavily its alumni network --- look at the magnitude of donation and endowment from alumni and you should understand why..。

如果两个申请人其他资质全部不相上下， 但是其中一个的父母是哈佛校友， 毫无疑问学校会优先考虑校友的KID啦。如果其父母的背景很厉害， 对学校有significant的捐献， 那么即使他们的KID 稍微条件不如另一个申请人， 也是可能被优先考虑的（Come on. We are in a business world...where relationship matters.)

不过， 对于中国的申请者， 你根本还不必担心这一点 ---- 大概中国最早的一批HBS校友的孩子。。。都还没到申请的年龄吧。。哈哈

Dear Havard 2010.  I read everything but don't see the answer to my question.  Harvard has 400 words limit on the essays. 
Have any of you written 50% more words than the limit(600 words)?   or 25% over(500 words)?  What is your recommendation on this if I must go over?

关于托福分数:总分103 (Reading 29, Listening 26, Speaking 24, and Writing 24.)

但是我看最低限是109，所以系统会不会直接就把我的申请过滤了阿？其实我不担心自己的交流问题，我的工作环境一直都是英文的，我能不能在optional essay中解释一下？但要是系统直接过滤的话，解释也没有用了
