关于读难句的一点体会－看杨鹏难句有感

1、  阅读时要全神贯注，努力集中精神；

2、  要擅于提炼难句的主要意思（即意译），而不是满足于认识所有的单词和语法，因此就要求有详有略：

例如：Thus，what in contrast to the Puritan colonies appears to Davis to be peculiarly Southern— acquisitiveness，a strong interest in politics and the law，and　a tendency to cultivate metropolitan　cultural models—was not only more typically English than the cultural　　patterns exhibited by Puritan Massachusetts and Connecticut，but also almost certainly characteristic　of most other early modern British　colonies from Barbados north to Rhode　　Island and New Hampshire.

读完后，要读出：D看来是南方特有的东西，其实不仅更典型是英国的，而且几乎是大多数早期英国之名的的特点。（破折号后的同位语可以略看）。

For example，the spiral arrangement of　scale-bract complexes on ovule-bearing pine cones，where the female reproductive organs of conifers are located，is important to the production of airflow patterns that spiral over the cone’s surfaces，thereby passing airborne pollen　from one scale to the next.

只要读出：the arrangement of female reproductive organs of conifers are important ot reduce the pollen waste这个意思就行了。
