Cornell MFE 还是 Columbia MAFN的艰难抉择！ 拜托各位了！！！！！！

since you go to a US college, i will just write in english. in term of curriculum, only 3 classes are msfe only. in other words, msfe and msor can take almost the same classes. so you are not at disadvantage as a msor student. you get the same education as msfe but at slightly cheaper price.
when applying for jobs, how many HR staff know the differences? they only care about GPA and the school. majors do not reallly matter. once you pass the hr screen, the rest is up to you, nothing to do with your major. so as long as you take right classes and study well, you can just ace the interviews and get the job! MSFE students tend to place better than OR students due to that they have more relevant work experience, not because of the program. i like msor because it has more career options than FE. so i applied MSOR directly. since i already commit to another program, i will not go there anymore. but i like the program.

我觉得哥大or不错啊，mfe的课也可以上，networking搞好找个好工作不成问题的

这么多毕业的MSFE去了业界，难道HR还会分不清是MSFE 还是OR么。。那哥大STAT 还是可以跟MAFN选差不多的课，也就是STAT 很好咯？ 还有MSFE的难道一点就业服务也没= =

Do you know how high turnover rate is for hr staff? It is rare for hr to stay at one company for long. Even if they do they often recruit for different teams. Hr staff often graduated from tier 2 schools who don't know shit abt differences between different programs. They only check gpa and the school. They are very likely to consider MSFE and msor as equivalently strong programs.
I don't know abt mafn and stats. So I can't comment on them.
Don't expect Columbia to have dedicated career services. It is ivy. They believe that having Columbia on your resume is the biggest help you ever need to get a job. If you need ppl to babysit you to get a job then you are not gonna be successful in US.

疙瘩金数去了你就后悔。。。另外 想做S&T这几个学校可能性都不大。。。如果去HK或者坡岛好像没多少S&T的职位吧BB里面，主要都在欧洲和北美，如果你觉得flow trader你也开心的话那Cornell吧 毕竟我知道有一些人还是能去的 虽然大多都是risk了。。。

Thanks for the comment, very insightful. Currently my biggest concern is that I heard the competition among students in Columbia is extremely harsh. I know two students both had PKU for undergrad, one in Cornell and have got bunch of offers for intern already, and the other in Columbia MAFN who seems to be not so happy with his intern hunting results.

I feel like you have had a lot of industry experience. Would you mind letting me know which school you decided to go?

哈哈 flow traders可不是chop shop, 工资很高的好吗，比BB ST起薪高多了。前几天刚二面，题目太难了。
