I personally think placement is everything that matters. You should compare the historical data (if available, of course) of their PhD placement to gauge how much chance you have in the positions you want.
An academic giant may or may not be your ticket to a US school. Same applies to a prestigious school like UBC.
Even if you could learn much from that Prof. in HK, landing in a university in China may not provide a pleasant environment for your academic progress.
On the contrary, if you could enter UBC, you have the option to choose which prof. you wanna follow and most of them are more than willing to cooperate with you, especially in B-school. |
