Happy to help! And thanks for posting here. I am sure many, many people are also confused by this question, and by asking it in this forum, you're going to help many other applicants So, let's dig right in. This question doesn't just want you to write your career goals. If that's what they wanted to know, they'd say, "What are your post-MBA career goals?"
What THEY want is something deeper. Notre Dame puts a large focus on ethical business practices, and they want to make sure that every student that goes to their school is also dedicated to doing business in an honest, ethical way that is going to have a positive impact on the world around them. So they don't want to know what you want to do in your career, they want to know how you're going to do GOOD in your career. How do you plan to lead with integrity? To build a strong organization with strong values? To lead a business that is focused on improving the world around you, and, you know, not just making lots of money.
That's what they want to know. So you want to focus not just on the goals that you have, but how to plan to lead in a positive way. It's a great question, and also a tough one. It's not easy to think of a plan to do those things, but they want you to think and to think hard. This is a very important thing to this particular program, and they want to make sure they're only accepting students who also value integrity, organizational excellence and a concern for the greater good.
