请教大神关于 comma+and 其主语的问题

Manhattan语法p.197 中说 “Do not use a comma before and to separate two verbs that have the same subject”.
由此知识点分析OG13-SC No.91

In an effort to reduce their inventories, Italian vintners have cut prices; their wines have been priced to sell, and they are.

  正确选项C. their wines are priced to sell, and they do. (they是指wines, 但按照Manhattan的知识点来看，两个并列句子的主语都是wines，不应该用 comma + and分开，这样理解对吗？
• 而且看到网上其他大神说 “此题利用comma+and 可以判断they指wine而非vintner，若指vintner就可以省去comma+and ” 对这个实在不理解啊，有大神帮忙解释一下吗？
• 我想知道 关于comma+and 主语的问题（什么时候必须去掉，若两句是同一个主语还可以用comma and分隔么，是不是必须要不相同的主语），不是讨论they的指代....  想了一个多小时，不知道表达清楚没有， 希望得到CD大神们和G友的解答~~先谢过大家！

亲还没搞懂they指代的是谁，这边they明显是vintners，do是重复之前的sell

我觉得they指wines,they do是个句子用comma+and.Actually, it's not "separate verbs",but" separate two sentences", although these two sentences have the same subjuects.

同意2L they是指代vintners
一个句子里面相同代词 指代同一对象
只有they是指代vintners  
their wine 他们的酒
如果they也指代酒 ，那就是指代错误
