选择C，我看了解释说是缺少一个连词，但是正确的句子“part1，part2，part3.”里面part1和part3都还是完整的句子。是否还存在run-on sentense的现象？

回去看语法书吧，句子结构需要加强。看了下面的解释，你一定拍大腿：哎呀！
C中but不就是连词吗？
主句：Mauritius was a British colony for almost 200 years
从句：but except in the domains of administration and teaching, the English language was never really spoken on the island.
只有两个句子，中间还有but，没有run on。

but是连词我看出来了，就是从句中又有逗号，不影响么？

except in the domains of administration and teaching不是句子只是个介词短语啊！

来个简单的：In 2009, I went to USA.你会觉得这个两个句子？

你看这样对么：句子，but介词短语，句子
but之后的（介词短语，句子）是一个句子整体
即句子，but句子。
