Thank you very much for your insights. Unfortunately, UChicago does not have an accounting master. So I am hesitating between American accounting masters or European masters.  LSE master of accounting and finance, Cambridge Mphill of Finance(people say if I am interested in financial accounting, a research-based finance master is also fine?), or Queens master of accounting may be good more research-based master. But they are not in USA. Meanwhile most accounting masters in the states are professional degree, even for top schools such as UIUC, Texas Austin, USC or Notre Dame.

Based on your experience, should I have a professional accounting in US or a more research-based degree in other countries?

I would say that research-based degree in other countries is better

U know, professional accounting programs are quite different from research based ones. The professional ones is CPA oriented. However, the research based ones helps u better prepared for the future academic career. If u have determined to chase a PhD degree in the future, I think research based ones are more appropriate for u. Since u will have a masters degree in US, u have already showed ur study ability in US. It is enough for u future application to PhD program in US.

And it is not required to apply for an accounting masters degree, finance or eco degree also helps. But it is very beneficial if u can take some accounting classes.

好的 谢谢pipuzzy。 看了下好像除了LSE 就没有非常好的research based master了。这方面你有了解吗？

你们芝大硕士今年有进stanford gsb policy econ 和 KELLOGG MEDS的吧， accounting就不是很清楚了
争取RA吧，比多读一个master管用

对 stanford那个是上上届同专业的一个学长 kellogg 那个不知道诶。恩恩 争取在找RA

多谢ljzhalcyon。 我现在的concern就是没有会计大牛的推荐信  准备去BOOTH那边混下牛教授的课。还有对于Financial archival 一块Tier 2， 是怎么定位的？ 请赐教！ 感觉BYU ranking 一块很多传统牛校反而没有进financial archival的top10. 求指点
