曼哈顿上语法点的几个疑问

Hi 各位大牛好，在曼哈顿上的语法书上看到如下几个疑问：

1 Modifier的一章中说:

在被动语态中，可以用不定式表示目的：（Infinitives of purpose can be used with unnamed agents in passive voice sentence）E.g: the weight was lifted to free my leg.

但是在Chapter13 中，书中又写到：

The building was demolished to avoid falling down accidentally. 这句话是错误的。

请问，上面这句话如果按照modifer中理解，就是对的啊？请问错误在哪里。

2 That指代问题

曼哈顿中有句话： The incidence of the disease among men exceeds that among men.  此处 that 可以指代the incidence of the disease.

但是我在一些其他句子中，却看到 that 只能指代of结构的部分名词。所以有些迷惑，that到底是指代a of b 结构整体，还是部分A或者B，或是整体看情况定。

3 一个老问题，贴了很久，没有回应，希望大家看看，指点指点~~

Scientists have found high levels of iridium in certain geological formations around the world,[size=12.800000190734863px]SUGGESTING the cataclysmic impact of a meteor millions of years ago.

（原句：Scientists have found high levels of iridium in certain geological formations around the world. These results[size=12.800000190734863px]suggest the cataclysmic impact of a meteor millions of Years ago.）

从之前的讨论帖看到的是，comma,Ving结构的主语应该和之前句子的主语一致。但是此句的主语应该是 result suggesting....

第一个avoid,把the building 做主语了，应改为，the building was demolished to keep it from falling down accidently.这里it指代the building，为to keep的宾语。不定式表达要逻辑上正确

多谢回答，如果按照你的解释的话，the weight was lifted to free my leg.这句话to free my leg的主语也是the weight啊，那么主语也是错误？。。。。。

第二个看情况而定
第三个的话，Scientists have found high levels of iridium in certain geological formations around the world,SUGGESTING the cataclysmic impact of a meteor millions of years ago.这里suggesting表明是前面的整个结果suggesting。还可以写成Scientists have found high levels of iridium in certain geological formations around the world，results suggest...........

Hi,谢谢你的回答，主要我是根据RON写的与规则判断的。

，Ron说，Ving放句尾，做verb modifier, 要满足，逻辑主语apply to the subject of the preceding clause.此句中，ving的主语是high levels of iridium.但是preceding clause只有一个就是scientist found sth.所以按道理，preceding clause的主语就是scientist啊。


如果这个句子改成，scientist have found high level of irridium that is in certain geological formation,suggesting.........如果这么写的话，那么suggesting的preceding clause就是 irridium that is in sth.那么逻辑主语apply to the subject of preceding clause.
