In the reading passage, the author claims three main  causes of the Little  Ice Age.(为毛只有这个是现在时后面全是过去时) The speaker in the lecturer, however,  argued that the information is  already out of date.            
First, the author stated that the disruption of ocean  currents in the Gulf  Stream might cause global climate change. However,  the speaker argued that in  that way cooling would have only taken  place in North America and Europe,  instead of happening worldwide.  Since the climate change also happened in  Southern hemisphere, the  ocean currents theory cannot explain the Little Ice  Age.
            
Second, the volcano theory. （这么写可以么？）According to the speaker,  if volcano eruption  really generated enough dust to affect global  climate, people would have  observed stunning visual effects, such as  colorful sunset and gray or brown  snow. Since there were no records for  those phenomenas, the volcano theory cannot  be regarded as the main  cause of the Little Ice Age.（theory是现象的原因不太合适）
            
Third, the author alleged that the decrease of  population might cause  cooling effect. Since more farmland turned back  into forests, more greenhouse  gas would have been absorbed by trees.  However, this argument could not be  justified, since there was not  enough time for this effect to work. Forests were  soon being cut down  to meet the need of growing back population. In this sense,  the  short-time appearance of forests could not take responsibility f or the   Little Ice Age.
