hey guys. Im an accounting students in a Canadian university (u of a) Im graduating in the end of 2015. I need some advise for my career development.
I dont have any accounting relevant experience yet since I am a transfer student and didnt get in the coop program. I dont think I will have any odds successfully get in a big CA firm when I graduate.
So here is what I think. I will try to get some accounting experience next academic year like doing some part-time bookkeeping or AP or something. And I need to pass the uniform AICPA exam when I graduate. Since this is ideal for me. But I wonder if just passing the CPA exam will give me much assets to land a job in Canada.
My second option is to go to the states for a macc specialized in tax thus I might be valuable for broader tax job. My ideal schools are Uw foster mpacc-tax and Umn Carlson master of business taxation coz they are close to Canada. I have talk to my parents about this but seems they are not in favor of me about going to US right away after graduating. And another problem is that I will only have a three year work permit after I finish in u of a and a master degree in states will at least cost me one year and a half, let alone the money.
Can anyone give me some advise? If its really good to take the uniform cpa exam, which state should I choose? And How do I plan my final year?
Many thanks in advance and wish everyone get a decent job!
