Time2[2’24]
China is rapidly getting older
Rapid aging in China has been driven by three distinctive developments.
population aging will affects economic performance

Time3[2’31]
China’s pension fund is unable to keep up with aging population.

Time4[1’26]
There is not enough supply for elderly people in Hong Kong.
over 50 percent of the elderly are now living in subsidized housing.

Time5[1’16]
middle income group also has housing problems.
it is very difficult for the government to maintain prices.
Hong Kong Housing Society offers life-leases for elderly tenants that fulfilled the criteria via means testing.

Time6[1’48]
As time goes by , life-lease seems to become quite popular.
The Hong Kong Housing Society is also experimenting with a new type of elderly housing project
They prepared to invest more in this area, to help tenants live safely and happily in Hong Kong

Speaker: Although in the comtemporary society, the elder live longer and they have better medical care than ever before, they live far away from their children ,relatives and long friends. Thus, the elder tend to have non-committal diseases more frequently and the elder are labled as low social sense of respect in USA. The elder shouldn't be prejudiced or discriminated, even though  in contrast to the youngsters, they have less aspiration and energy, they have more experiences and know more about the relationship between people. The elder can do well such as strategists, economists and teachers , and they are even a good baby care taker. So we should respect for the elder, and encourage them to live with ourselves.

Time2: 2:00
Aging becomes a more and more important social problems in China. There are three reasons of the problem. Firstly, the economic development ensures the higher life standard. Secondly, the generation of baby boomer has started to join the elder group. Thirdly the draconian population control policy cause the low fatality. The rapid aging will bring about the higher payment of chinese labor.

Time3: 2:50
Although tht health care, elder care and pension systom are underdeveloped. But they can't reach the pace of the aging. Aging in China makes the economic development slow, which is a good signal for neibooring countries, This is also a signal that China reflaxes the barrier of finance and encourages foreign capital to invest in China's elder care.

Time 4 :  1:00
There is not enough supply in housing for especially the elder in Hong Kong.

Time 5:  1:13
Because housing is monopolised by the housing developers in Hong Kong so that the government can't maiitain tht price of housing and increase the suplly of land. There is a good news that life-lease forelder tenants give the tenants rights to occupy the flats.

Time 6: 1:20
There is a tenet in Chinese society tha every Chinese want to have a house for himself. Thus, many people deem the life-lease as a less valuable investment, but the social response to the scheme is positive and a new scheme is now projecting.

Obstacle:  4:58
Like other coutries, England faces a paradox between lower budget for elder care and increasing demmand for elder care because of the rapid aging. Compared with England, Japan, facing the aging problem for a long time, deems the elder care as a large part of household responsibility, and Japan develops a phenomenon known as ;social hospitalisation, that elder people can receive hospitality for longer period.

辛苦楼主!大家都好早啊,白天基本满课,不过我更享受晚上阅读的感觉,呵呵,今天写的有点多,状态还行
part 1:

growing older societies, diversed, trible practices, retirement, killing old people
variations ,gathering food, weapons, politics, huge significance ,country value ,disadvantage:hoispital, patients
reasons:independence,appetice
status:recreation
more old people and few young people;social ties with age ,few workforce, literacy, idiot
young women enter the workforce, loss value, old people do some job better than young people. experience,
elderly constitute a large societies.
traditional societies and modern societies.
fascinating view

part 2

[time 2] 3'25

china is rapidly getting older.more and more people are in their 65 upward.
the rapid growing elderly population developed by several development:
1.the development of society and living conditions increases the life expectancy.
2.the children booming population are entering into the elderly people.
3.one-child policy was controlled the increasing of birth rate

beyond the social impact, there are still economic effects on china, which is expected surpassed by India after 2020.
beacuse China lack of pruductive workforce,we are not favored to get a good opportunity in the capital and technology intensive
industries.

[time 3] 3'39

China's pensions and health care systems cannot keep up with the increasing number of elderly people. our health care system
is still undeveloped.

together with the booming senior people,a new system called institution-based health care occured.
premier Li has stated that China will relax the regulations to accept the foreign capital to invest on our health care system.

[time 4] 1'54

HK is facing a shortage of supply problem now.
there is  a lack of land support to the elderly people.also there is a huge demand for land among senior citizens.
the land problem is not only for elderly but also for middle income group.

[time 5] 2'12

to come up with a method to solve the land price for median income group is not so easy.because:
1.housing is monopolied by developers,it's difficult to control the housing price to a affordable level
2.HK is so small a land that unable to enlarge new housings on this land.

the government offers life-leases to senior tenant, enabling them to occupy self-containing housings in their life time

time2 1:59
China is rapidly getting older. the impact of aging population on economy.
the challege that China will face. the china's economic growth rate will be surpassed by india and Indonesia.
time3 1:29
pension, health care and social security systems are still underdeveloped.
the booming senior population has created a new growth market.
time4 1:08
there is shortage housing for the elderly
time5 0:49
the median can not pay the private house
the hong kong housing society offer life-leases for the elderly tenant
time6 1:23
the life-lease make a effect though it was not well-received initially
obstacle
main idea: japan's solution to providing care for an ageing population
structure:
the british old people are told to care for themselves.
about half of all care home residents end up fully funding themselves.
england has beed reducing the number of people receiving care
the two consequences of a family responsibility to care for the elderly.
japanese government introduced long-term care insurance which worked well but still face other troubles such as spiralling costs
setting a lifetime cap on care needs will allow for the creation of insurance products to cover against social care cost.
the balance between the state, the family and the individual needs to be carefully struck
introduce radical reform with public support
conclude that we need to be prepared for changing society to make any settlement look out of date

old people's condition in traditional society, they are useful in service, knowledge, experience, culture value.the reason of low status of old; change for the better; what old people can do better:  take care of grandchildren/experience of living through of depressions/other aspects   life is better in traditional society;what we can  learn from traditional society

01:26
China is getting older because social impacts and this condition will affect economic performance
02:20
China's pension fund has a big problem——the population and the changing household strcture created a new growth market
00:42
the problem may create a demand for welfare spending which will lead to a peaceful relationship
01:11
not enough house for elderly people(middle income group) should cause goverment attention
01:25
providing house is difficult because of varieties  of reason and some measure is implement
01:27

Obstacle 6:16
The population of old people continues to grow, however the social care for old people is shrinking in England.
1 reduce the number of people who can recieve government fund
2 raise the trashhold for people who are eligible for help

England can make use of Japan's experience to handle the question.
The previous situation in Japan:
1 old people are not treated well in family
2 social hospitalisation to old people
Japanese Government measures:
long-term care insurance funded by compulsory premium and taxation.
However, this method does not solve the problem and raise the payments of wealthier adults.

Also, this method cannot be used in England, becaThe population of old people continues to grow, however the social care for old people is shrinking in England.

第六天,坚持
Time 2 02:01
China government will be confronted with severe population aging, which will lead China to lose competitive edge,  in labor-intensive industries, to other emerging development countries.
Time 3 01:56
Population aging will stimulate the development of health care industry in which China government would encourage oversea capital to invest.
Time 3 rest 00:45
While spending more capital into welfare, China government would have to reduce the military expenditure, therefore mitigate the security dilemma in East Asia.
Time 4 01:23
In Hong Kong, it is quite a serious problem that no enough spaces are for the elderly.
Time 5 01:12
To help solve the housing problem for the middle income group, the Hong Kong Housing Society offers life-leases for elderly tenants that fulfilled the criteria via means testing
Time 6 01:26
A new type of elderly housing project was proposed. It is designed for those who already owned their flats, but are looking to liquidate their fixed assets. The pricing has not been decided just yet.
Paraphrase 7 04:59
Referring to Japan's solution to providing care for aging population, England could find a way to resolve what issues it is facing in older people caring.

T2:2:04
China is getting older because of three elements:economic development and the increase of average life length, people in baby boom is getting old, and the population control policy.
The effect of aging is that China might be less competitive with its labor decreasing and wages increasing. However, China is moving to a more efficient development.
T3:2:11
The pension for old people in China is far less than those in western countries.
Institutional care are affordable and acceptable by most old people in China. This offered an opportunity for US to implement cross-boarderinvestment.
T4:0:57
Old people in Hong Kong are facing a shortage of housing.Houses provided by non-profit organization are not enough.
T5:1:08
It is desperate for middle class income people to by a house in Hong Kong, and the government is not able to control the price because of the need of development.HKHS offered a life-lease program.
T6:1:03
An exemple of a family who got their life-lease house with a lower cost of entry fee. It will become more popular for people not to own a house. There surely is a market.
obstacle
In England, more people have reach to their own pocket for caring because the social care pension is shrinking. This is not a unique phenomenon. In Japan, when there was no public care for old people, abusing and social hospitalization happened.Japanese government took measures and the situation got better. But the problem was not solved because the need for social care is increasing. Private sector should be involved in and the government should handle the balance between state, family and individual.

[speaker]
traditional society tries to get rid of their elders: kill old people, abandon old people. we should learn from tribal societies.
The contrast between good and bad societies.
Variable: the usefulness of old people and society values: they can produce food; they are capable of looing after children. old people are always expert of one field, and they are sources of information and knowledge. They are useful in traditional society. Their usefulness varies.
Older people are looked down in America.
Low status: 1) work ethic, high value, no longer work
  2) emphasis on independence and self-reliance
changes: big change for the better: much longer life and care, facilities and programs; each old people has less value.
All old people live distantly from their children.
Biggest change: they are no longer useful. We search for information on the Internet. The old are not good at technology. Then take him for an example.
Suggestions: offer high-quality child-care for their grandchildren; unique experience, provide information to politicians; society should make the things the old are good at available.

[speed]
2:05
China is rapidly growing older. First, introduce the proportion of the population of China. Then three reasons: 1) robust economic growth leads to longer life expectancy; 2) baby boomers between 1950s and 1960s; 3)rigid control policy.
Disadvantages: lose competitive edge in labor force; slow down economic growth.
3:05 time3+the rest
China’s care policy is underdeveloped. the pension is not enough and the services and facilities for old people are not enough too. China welcomes overseas investors to make businesses in China. This is a great opportunity. And the president Xi announced that welfare is China’s NO-1 priority.
1:08
Hong Kong does not have enough space to provide elderly housing for many old people. A lot of middle-income people have also to face the housing problem.
1:10
there are two reason for the shortage of houses in Hong Kong: the housing market is monopolized by developers; and Hong Kong is a small place.
Hong Kong government is providing life-time leases to median people. before living in those houses, these people have to take a test.
1:13
Hong Kong is trying to help old people live safely and happily by experimenting old-people projects.
[obstacle]
7:10
UK faces the challenge that they don’t provide enough social care to old people. The consequences of Japan doing so is serious:
1)        young people who look after old people feel depressed and hatred.
2)        Less old people can go to hospital for social care.
Therefore, Japan invested a lot of money in the care for old people. Although the results are good, Japan is paying too much for the care of old people.
UK should reflect on what Japan did, and see what it is going to do.
