Hi my friend! First let me say that I think your school list is fine. You should have confidence given your solid background. I would suggest you focus on drafting strong essays now,emphasizing your advantages of both work experience and rich extracurricular activities. Also, try to figure out what you really want to do in the future with your career. The MSF and MSA are two very different programs that will lead to very different jobs. You need to make your future plans clear in order to convince each program that you are the perfect candidate. Hope this helps!

It is really tough for me to choose MSF or MSA. First, I think Finance is more interesting than Accounting. I worked as a financial analyst so that maybe this WE can become a plus if I apply for the MSF programs. Also, almost everyone told me that if you want to find a job and get H1B job visa, you'de better choose MSA as a mojor because the competition of MSF graduate students is really fierce. So, I decide to apply for several MSA programs as well since the demand for accounting graduates here is relatively huge.

Below is my school list draft, hope you can give me some advice about that. I do appreciate your help.

First Choice:               
VANDERBILT        MSF
USC        MSA
BOSTON COLLEGE        MSA
BRANDEIS        MSF
ROCHESTER        MSF
Second Choice:               
UIUC          MSA
BENTLEY        MSA

Hi there, and thanks for following up! Your school list looks good, but I must caution you that there’s some difficulty in applying for two different kinds of programs. It is doable for sure, but not easy. Your essays need to be distinct for each kind of program, and you need to show clear career planning and future goals, which will be very different for an MSA versus an MSF application.To be honest, it is not easy for international students to land a job no matter what kind of graduate business study they’re doing, but a top-tier program is the best asset no matter what you study. In order to get into one of those, as I mentioned previously, you really need to show that you know exactly what you are passionate about. Then, you must demonstrate that you know how to take advantage of the specific program to achieve your ultimate career goals. Both of these things are accomplished in your essays, which will have to be different for your MSA and MSF applications. Hope this helps!
