Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The effective leader tries to make others feel they have been part of a decision.
We live in a world where technology and knowledge are accumulated exponentially and at the same time more and more advanced. Therefore, the competition among different companies has become increasing severe. In that condition, whether a leader of a company is effective or not is an essential factor in modern society. As far as I am concerned, nothing is more important than making workers feel they have been part of a decision.
It is one of human’s natures that everyone will consider himself firstly. Therefore, when workers join the decision, they will try their utmost to make it more perfect and feasible to make sure that they will benefit from it in the future. If they are isolated from decision, it is conceivable that they will just accept other’s suggestion without considering. On the other hand; as an old saying goes:‘God will make a mistake in thousand times’, managers often make some unreasonable choices even though they are smart and well-experienced. Workers who make decision together will point out their boss’s mistakes. For instance, Cao Cao, one of most powerful emperors in Chinese history, is always gathering all his counselors to make decision even though he is an outstanding manager.
Furthermore, workers who take part in decision will devote themselves to it in the future. The reason why some good decision didn’t result in a satisfactory goal is that workers didn’t execute the decision with imputes. To make workers more energetic, leader is supposed to bring home to them that the decision is closed related to themselves, that is, to make workers feel they have been part of the decision.
Admittedly, there are many other factors which can help leaders to be effective such as bonus system and strict schedule. However, I believe that the most useful way is to involve workers into everything that they are related to.
To sum up, instead of sparing no effect to make a decision by himself, a leader ought to hold a meet to let his workers discuss about the whole subject, which is bounded up to their future.
