The Advanced Thermal Science and Energy Lab in Boise State University has an immediate Ph.D. student opening for highly motived students interested in research on novel materials for energy conversion, thermal management and biomedical applications. The Ph.D. student, expected to start as early as Spring 2014, will receive full scholarship to cover both tuition and a very competitive stipend.
Our lab focuses on development of novel methods to study thermal and energy transport and conversion in nanostructured materials. The new methods developed here will foster fundamental understanding of energy carrier transport and conversion in nanostructured materials and across inhomogeneous interfaces. The research results will spur development of advanced materials and devices for broad applications, including high-efficiency thermoelectric materials, thermal insulation materials, novel thermal interface materials, and biomaterials, etc. Highly motivated students of good background in material science, thermal science and energy conversion, instrumentation and LabVIEW are encouraged to apply.
