The recommendation is veryhelpful to the Admissions Committee because it can also provide insight intoyour professional accomplishments and your impact from another viewpoint. Thisin turn will help the Committee to see how you might contribute to yourclasses, teams, groups and student clubs.
Carefully select yourrecommenders. They should be people who work closely with you on a daily ornear-daily basis and are in a position to offer perspective on your ability towork with others, to influence, to help get the job done, to lead and tofollow.
The ideal recommendations are from immediate supervisors or managers.Since it may not always be possible to obtain one this way, consider other colleagues who in a managerial/leadership role.
Plan far ahead with respect to your recommenders. They are very busypeople who will need advance notice to prepare your evaluation. You do not want to jeopardizeyour potential admission to your dream school by not giving your recommendersenough time to properly prepare your letter.
Invite the recommender tosit and talk with you about your goals for business school. You may needto give provide an outline or list of assignments that you have completed. Thatwill help him/her when shaping your recommendation – to recall your strengthsand contributions. You may have to remind your recommender of some of yourexperiences… that’s okay.
Manage your recommenders. Check your online account frequently to see if yourrecommenders have submitted their evaluations. If you don’t, your applicationcould be delayed from reaching the final review process. 推荐人的选择上也非常重要。注意要提早通知推荐人,这样可以给他们更多的时间考虑怎么写推荐信。有时可以和他们简单的交谈并且让他们知道你的主要意图可以更好地帮助你写推荐信。
Tue Aug 27, 2013 12:17pm Don't’s
Don’t ask people who don’t know you well to submit recommendations onyour behalf. Areference from the top person within your organization who has littleinteraction with you will not necessarily yield much insight to the AdmissionsCommittee.
Refrain from asking a parent or family members to write arecommendation. Such evaluations can be very, very subjective, and while well-meaning, couldlack perspective on how an MBA might be help you in reaching your goals.
Don’t list the wrong schools on your forms – give your recommender thecorrect information. Idon’t want to see a recommendation meant for another school. This shows a lackof attention to detail.
Don’t write your own recommendations. The Admissions Committee wantsto know about your strengths and your challenges. Your own assessment may notaccomplish this and furthermore could be just a reiteration of your essay.
这四点看似很明显,但也值得一提:不要让朋友写推荐信,不要写错学校名字,不要自己写推荐信,不要让不熟悉的人写。
