How to explain why I want to transfer to the targeted program instead of completing my current one? I heard that sb successfully did so by going to Darden from Maryland.

Actually I know people "transfering" from one MBA program to another, both top 10, but the latter is better in the industry s/he wants to concentrate on. She filed in an application to the second school in the first term and successfully made the move after the winter break. I guess the key is to persuade the target school's adcom that you really need the transfer and have comparable, if not better, qualifications than the current students (contributions to the school).

It reminds me of my previous classmate(a singaporean) who was admitted
by Columbia's Jan. in-take and went there after our first quarter. But
he was going there purely for personal purposes.

May I know why it is impossible? Have you heard about any failure cases to do so? At least, wharton and ross made it clear on their website that people with MBA experience or even degree can apply too. HBS confirmed with me via telephone.

个人这样看： MBA和其他专业不同，多数学校极力标榜自己独特的文化等等，而且希望就读的学生在进来之前就明确认同这种文化。 而且很多学校明确说明：MBA的学分不能转。至于具体的操作， 您一定要和具体的学校联系过才能明确。 祝愿你成功！！！
