咦~听得不太好
The reading and thelecture both discuss restriction of cane toad in Australia, which is brought tothe country for the original sake of protecting crops, yet failing. The readingpassage gives credence to three possible solutions of dealing with that problem. The lecture, however, points to the inappropriaties in each of three methods, directly challenging the reading passage. First and foremost, theprofessor contradicts the issue of establishing a national fence to keep canetoads in case of they spreading into other uncolonized area. He says that toadscould be limited inside the fence, while they can leave their eggs or young toadsoutsides leading that toad may not be restricted by the fence. The reading, however, declares that according the the previous similar example regarding torestriction of rabbit, the fence building will be effective and efficient inthe aspect of limitation of animals. It is mentioned in thepassage that Australia can recruit some volunteers to capture the exoticharmful animal, cane toad, considering the easiness of catching and findinglocation. But the professor demurs about the idea. According to him, thesevolunteer will be untrained. He points out that taking this measure is just towaste resource and cast no effect on the very problem. The issue of adoptingdisease-causing virus does not please the professor either. The professoracknowledges a certain kind of virus could control popularization and growth ofcane toads but also point out that it is a definitely terrible idea for thistrouble. As he says, the variable virus will get to other place over the originalregion. In conclusion, thereading strongly believes that these three solutions are feasile and effectiveto treat with the problem; however, the professor reveals the flaws andprovides his own proofs of this very fact. |
