真正原因是those指代前面的singular civilization不对，如果前面是civilization后面想说复数的civilizations和其并列平行必须补出S；看A选项，就补出了，所以CDE看到those直接就扔掉

动词是threaten ....
这里civilization后面用that从句或分词都可以了，关键是比较后面
had肯定不对了，时态要跟flourished 一致了，用过去式，were也不对，这里应该用did 代替前面的动词，所以排除BCE，A也不用看了，as从句后面都没有谓语啊~
所以选D吧~

动词使threaten
the same time as前后要parallelism. 比较的对等成分市civilization.

hi，这里compare的仍然是A civilization flourished the same time as B civilization (did)，而不是说盐和湿气同时威胁这个两个文明，所以linnn的解释错了。（请注意全句的含义）。

首先，这题考的的是词态，通过这点就可以排除答案剩下A，问题就只剩下为什么A选项里面没有动词，原因就是---这里的动词是可以被省略的！我想你可能认为在并列（包括比较句）中动词不可以被省略，但是在 “I jumped higher than John (did)” 这句话里的did可以方便的被省略，因为没有歧义，manhattan里面说了 "you should put in the omitted words or approriating Helping Verbs (such as be, do and have) ONLY if you need to remove ambiguity." (Edi. 12 Page 129).

比如： I like to eat apple more than my brother did. 这里的did不可以省略，不然有可能是说我觉得我弟弟不好吃（好邪恶）。我进一步猜想，可能这里和动词的词性有关，因为eat是个及物动词，而flourish 和 Jump是不及物动词，所以不及物动词比较可以被省略，因为我不能jump了其他东西，但是我可以吃了（及物）其他东西，那么比较可能是比较“吃了”这个动作，也可能是比较“其他东西”，所以当有不及物动词时，能省略的可能性较大，及物动词可能性较小。是不是及物动词就一定不能被省略呢？不是，比如： I eat faster than my brother (does)。这里因为eat 后面没有“其他东西”，所以没有歧义，does可以被省略。

但是我们在做题使用排除法时往往先把那些没有repeated helping verb的当成结构不并列而删掉，这就有可能导致A这个选项不假思索地先被排除掉了。其实如果在group/regroup答案时发现另外一个大的歧义点是词态，或许我们会在A停留以下，然后纠结以下需不需要动词，然后判定不需要动词，就选A。当然考试时候很紧张，错误难免，所以心细很重要啊~！

（这段话其实是说给我自己听的，我备考到都已经有神经病了，打出来既可以回复你也可以让我自己加深印象，因为这题我也错了。。。。我是个疯一样的男子）。

啊DE的 flourishing 为什么错了  国外的论坛说修饰site  但是我感觉没有逗号直接应 修饰前面的civilization这个词

我想到一个题目 就是复眼那个题目  split 是一个with 和一个having  前面有逗号的。 那个题目我记得with修饰的是A OF B 中的B ，也就是 A OF B, WITH    选having修饰A OF B整体 也就是核心词A 了
这是有逗号的情况

但是本题没有逗号

除了逗号的这个问题之外，因为主句是threaten一般进行时，如果换成flourishing，所描述的civilization表达不出这个是个过往的时态, 全句就没有任何地方可以表述flourish这个动作发生在从前了。所以，如果词态变化了，不可以用v-ing取代that did.
