The gist of the passage is a brief delineation about the perfume store and its surroundings.
At first, the author describes the street where the perfume store locates. And this might be a decent street with many sorts of parlors and stores.
In addtion, the author begins to introduce the perfume store from outter part to inner room, from the objects to the owner and the author specifically describes the owner in this perfume store in graphic and vivid details, including its old and astounding appearance and its astonishingly fast movement in calculating.
Then the author takes a great deal of heed of the fragrant material in the perfume store, which ranges from animal leather to plant's leaves.
Finally, the author specifically points out the tremendous noise around the store and its influence to the owner and the partons.
