Choice E mistakenly presumes that prior to the service improvement referred to in line 19, the service of the regional bank was inferior to that of competitors, whereas lines 7-16 suggest the bank’s service was on a par with that of its competitors.


I think that if it says "the passage failed to ...", then we indeed can't find that "bank managers failed to consider whether or not the service improvement made a measurable change in the experiences of customers in the bank’s offices", as indicated in choice B, in the passage. In conclusion, this case is "nonexistent" in the passage.

原文提到manager有两点没有考虑:produce new standard 和proving difficult for competitors to copy。D是对后一点的改写,如果再有一个选项对前一点改写,是不是也对呢?

我居然把proving堪称providing了...难怪一直不能了解

翻译一下:

他们也没有通过分析服务改进来判断,(通过创造能让顾客兴奋的新服务标准或通过证明该服务改进很难被竞争对手模仿),服务改进是否能吸引更多的顾客。

所以,他们没有创造让顾客兴奋的新服务标准,也没有证明该服务改进很难被竞争对手模仿...

***change可能有很多种:exciting\disappointed…,所以这里不是原文的改写!!所以B错!!
