学校都不会在录取之前做reference check的。For Wharton, 你收到录取以后，在你必须作出决定那个截至日期前授权学校去做reference check..所以不用担心，一定是你拿到offer, 并决定去Wharton，而且在你授权之后，学校才会做reference check的。

I am a rookie who plan to apply B-school next year and have no relavant experience at all.

However, according to my experience as a Ph.D student in a US school, I cannot agree with zuoweiyao more.

School officials always show you some strict rule and claim its authority. However, it's never unbreakable as long as you try to. Under most circumstances, breaking it is the only way to conquer your goal. In your case, find whatsoever reason to send her an email. As long as you have a reason, she would not mind to look at your email or your new score. It will break your ice.
