Congratulation to the MMs.

Opeman, I suggest you pushing the admission office politely. In March this year, I was in the wait-list in the second round application. My acquiantance from Chicago B-school told me do something, he before represented Chicago do some Alumni interview and was experienced at these things. But I did nothing. At last, I was sure other two girls more initiative and enthusiastic, were admitted at last. While my youngest alumni, a boy with a pitiful GMAT just above 700 as me, doing nothing either, was refused like me.

I just know the background of the head of admission office in Wharton. This lady was a musician for 15 years. If I knew this a little earlier, I should have written my essays more senstive rather than with a style of an aggressive businessman. And just in Octorbor, there are two senior admission officers leaving Wharton, one for Chicago, and one for Ohio univeristy. The only left senior officer under that lady is Brown, a foreign gentleman. (he is a Britishman, rather than an American). So the musician play key role in making decision.

So please remember to PUSH it, but in sense and in sympathy.

By the way, boy, I think your GMAT is a little pitiful like me, right?  The female director likes high GMAT, hehe.  At this point, a little rational to judge by number. I remember another girl admitted by Wharton in March. Only her GMAT is lower than me, , 690. She was a reapplicant and flight to Wharton for interview for twice. And I guess the female director of Wharton admission office should be touched deeply. Others I knew  into Wharton in August were higher than me in GMAT.

If you are free the next month, try to take GMAT and get a higher score. Once you send the score to Wharton, you are sure to be admitted.

Thanks a lot, zouweiyao

Your information cannot be more helpful. I really apprecitae these points.

Maybe I should try to take another GMAT after my applications are alldone.

However, it seems that there is nothing I can do according to Wharton's email for wait-lister.

No feedback, no point person contact, no additional material.

What can I do under that circumstance?

--------------------------------------------------

Dear Waitlist Candidate:

As a waitlist candidate, you may have some questions about the admissions process going forward.  Listed below is some information about waitlist procedures that will be helpful to you:

·       We will retain your name on the waitlist for consideration at the end of the next round unless you request your application be withdrawn. If you would like to withdraw, please e-mail mba.admissions@wharton.upenn.edu, using the subject header: “Waitlist Remove.”  All waitlist candidates will be notified of any change in their admissions status by the Round 2 decision release date of March 24, 2005.

·       We regret that we are unable to accept additional materials for inclusion in your application. This policy is designed to create an admissions process that is fair and equitable for all candidates.

·       There is no point person in the office for the waitlist. All waitlist decisions are handled by the Admissions Committee.

·       We are unable to provide additional interviews to waitlist candidates.  We provide only one interview per candidate.

·       We are unable to offer feedback to candidates while on the waitlist.

·       There is no rank order to the waitlist.

·       The chances of being admitted off the waitlist are hard to predict since much depends on the strength of the pool in subsequent rounds.  Historically, the admit rate has varied from year to year and has very little correlation with the number of candidates placed on the waitlist.

·       As with all candidates, campus visits are always welcome.  However, please keep in mind that visits have no bearing on your waitlist status or eventual admissions decision.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of these guidelines.  We sincerely appreciate your interest in the Wharton School.

Opeman, I received the same letter in March and did nothing. My final result was a big ding. Wharton gave me feedback, the same as what they gave my younger alumni. Others pushed Wharton and were admitted at the last minute.

Remember, you are placed into wait-list and it has proved you are quaified enough.  However, B-school will consider the balance of different countries and regions, the diversification of the candidates' background (industry, gender, etc) and when they are not certain, a high GMAT is the most convincing factor. Every B-school look at the rank, except Harvard.  GMAT of the admitted play a key role in ranks, we all knew.

It is easy to understand that Wharton and other top schools did not encourage you to write e-mails. But if you are confident, contacting them just shows your enthusiasm for the schools. Many applicants should interview subordinates before. Usually, we will tell the applicants wait for the result. However, if a person calls me directly, I will be impressed deeply by his initiative.  I will be affected by his strong interest to my company. This is a big way to add score.

My suggestion is to writing directly to that musician politely. Thanks her to carefully considering your application. Attach other recommendation or supplementary material to show you are well-rounded. Anyway, affect her and let her see you are worthy of Wharton.

Besides it, you can ask your interviewer to help u.
