Although appearing less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year—they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises—heirlooms are more flavorful and thus in increasing demand.
The results of the company's cost-cutting measures are evident in its profits, which increased 5precent during the first months of this year after it fell over the last two years.
正确答案为:which have increased 5 precent during the first 3 months of this year after falling
其中有一个错误选项:with a 5 precent increase during the first 3 months of this year after falling 这个选项为啥是错的呢???
Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than last because refiners are paving about $5 a barrel more for crud oil than they were last year.
It is expected that heating-oil prices will rise higher this year than last year's because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did.
Although appearing less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year--they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises---heirlooms are more flavorful and thus in increasing demand.
Although heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year, appear less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins.
1题.with a 5 precent increase during the first 3 months of this year after falling,是独立名词结构,这里作状语,所以这里逻辑要和主句主语相一致,那么The results显然和 a 5 precent increase无法一致。
这题,OG给的答案很模糊,这道题之所以不选E,是因为E把heating-oil prices will rise higher this year than last year's because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did都涵括为is expected,这种形式很好看,但句意上却大错特错,事实上只有heating-oil prices will rise higher this year than last year's才是expected,而后面的 because refiners pay about $5 a barrel for crude oil more than they did实际上是事实,是预测的依据,不需要expected,所以E选项错误。
句子的结构是主句+分句 => the results are evident in its profits, which...
Mary was sitting near the fire, with her back towards the door.
第一. it is expected that 在gmat 里不是wordy吗? 最伤的是,比较大大大大的不平行啊,this year 和 last year's不平行,because 后面倒是平行的。
Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this year than (heating-oil prices were) last (year), because......
(Hyphen)
Okay: Always buckle your seat belt; it's the law. Stronger: Always buckle your seat belt—it’s the law.
Although appearing less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year—they are often green and striped, or have plenty of bumps and bruises—heirlooms are more flavorful and thus in increasing demand.
(A) Although appearing less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year
(B) Although heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year, appear less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins
(C) Although they appear less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year
(D) Grown from seeds saved during the previous year, heirloom tomatoes appear less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins
(E) Heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year, although they appear less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins
如同插入语一样,在我们理解这句话的时候,可以把 —they are often green and striped,
or have plenty of bumps and bruises— 删去,这样原句就变成:
Although appearing less appetizing than most of their round and red supermarket cousins, heirloom tomatoes, grown from seeds saved during the previous year, heirlooms are moreflavorful and thus in increasing demand.
Grown from seeds saved during the previous year。
