1. Provide outstandingstrategic content in MBA admission essays.

Nearly every time I review the application of acandidate who failed to gain admission to their desired business school afterapplying on their own, I see a great deal of room for improvement in their MBA essays – both in terms oftheir strategic choice of content and in the specific words they used to try toconvey their achievements and credentials. The good news is that once weworked with the candidate to revise or completely re-craft the essays, thesecandidates have fared much better in the admissions process.

Many times, candidates fail to emphasize their leadership. Even if you have only worked for three years andyou have not led a team independently, there are many ways to weave leadershipinto your essays. Some engineers think they cannot write aboutleadership or business-relevant skills given the nature of their work. But, ifyou are an engineer there are still many ways to convey your leadership knowledge.

Among those candidates coming from IT ormanufacturing backgrounds, candidates often fail to communicate theirachievements and qualifications in the most business-relevant terms. There canbe a tendency to convey information in highly technical terms that a typicaladmissions committee member will not understand. Try to take a step back, assess what is most business-relevant about what you do, and convey yourinformation in ways that a typical businessperson can both relate to andunderstand.
在你选材写MBA essay 的时候注意选材要突出你的领导力。对于理工科的申请者也要注意文章不宜用词太过technical

2. Recognize the impact of the company from which you areapplying.

Thecompany at which you are currently employed can actually have a strong impacton your odds for admission. If you are a foreign national who is working outsideof the United States or Europe at a small company, a family company or astart-up, the very nature of your company can potentially be a disadvantagerelative to a candidate who is coming from a large multinational company (likeSamsung, Proctor & Gamble, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc.).

Unfortunately, some admissions committees take thenarrow view that a foreign national candidate who is in a multinational companyand aspiring to return to a multinational company needs their MBA from a topU.S. or European school more than a foreign national candidate coming from asmall company, a family company, or a start-up outside of the United States orEurope. The candidate from the multinational company, they reason, needs thedegree to compete against others in their company who will have their MBAdegrees from top U.S. and European business schools. According to this logic, such candidates will also need the networks and resources of a top U.S. orEuropean business school as their careers advance.

This perspective is overly simplistic, in my opinion, but nonetheless it is theperspective that some admissions officers embrace. For those candidates who areat the larger companies, therefore, they should seek to use that as anadvantage as they write their essays.

For those of you who are at a multinational companyand thinking about making a move to a small company, a family company, or astart-up outside of the United States or Europe, just consider that move inlight of the fact that this move might place you, as a foreign nationalapplicant, at a disadvantage in MBA admissions to top U.S. and Europeanbusiness schools.

Forthose applicants already working at a small company, a family company, or astart-up outside of the United States or Europe, just know that you must payvery close attention to how you present your work experience as well as yourlong-term goals.
在你申请MBA时候在职的公司非常重要。如果是大公司那很好,面试官可以给你更多的肯定。对于是小公司工作背景的申请者,那要好好运用工作经验和你的长期目标来体现MBA对于你的重要性。

3.Use the MBA admissions interview to create a great impression.

There are other aspects of your application that areimportant, namely your resume and the application form. Pay a great deal ofattention to making excellent use of both your resume and your applicationform. But in this best practice advice, I want to focus on yourinterview.

You don’t want to get all the way to the MBAadmission interview stage and then falter, failing to gain admission on thebasis of a poor interview. The MBA admissions interview helps the admissionscommittee to understand whether you are really the person you have portrayed inyour essays and also whether you will be a good fit for the school. Use it tomake a great impression.

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. As soon as you submit your applications, you should turn yourattention to preparing for interviews. Preparation and rehearsal are keys to agreat interview. Try tosecure a list of relevant practice questions. These days, it is possible toexplore reputable websites like Beat the GMAT to see what past candidates havebeen asked in their interviews. Once you have a list of practice questions, practice, practice, practice. Go into the interview knowing what you want to convey, able to portrayan image that reinforces your strong written application, and able to use theinterview as a factor that moves the outcome toward a “yes”.
感谢Chasedream 现在面试题目也非常的公开了,找到这些学校的面试题目,好好准备。有机会和学校面试等于成功了一半了,不能半途而废啊。

4.Finally – and it may seem a silly thing for me to even need tomention – don’t putyourself down in an interview. When you do so, it comes across as lackof confidence. There are many candidates who simply go into interviews andshoot themselves in the foot. Be very mindful not to undercut the portrait you have painted aboutyour achievements and your potential for success.
