Immigration, gun control and budget control are on the table for the congress.
Congress didn't good at handle complex issues. If one of the three issues reached an agreement, congress would show they could also handle complex issues.
The gun control is the most emotional, immigration will influence more than 11 million people and will affect the economy. The budget control will touch all the gov dept.
There will be a number of issues on the way to reach agreement on the three issues. However, the writer believes that there must be a way out.

Now congress faces three highly charged pieces of comprehensive legislation.the road to redemption usually requires taking one small step at a time, but the political establishment could take a huge bound.

意思是：两党虽然长久以来都没有达到一个共识，但是他们有相同的立场这是一个可能的，积极的信号，说明我们的系统是不会崩溃掉的
