CMU MSCF vs Berkeley MFE

个人觉得CMU和UCB的quant program都甩Columbia一条街（本来还想说几条街，但是想想哥大已经很牛了）。。。

I used to believe that QuantNet is a good place where people can exchange the ideas. But a few days ago I heard that the QuantNet guys collect 'advertising fees' from the MFE programs, and Linda didn't pay that fee because she believed that she would be 'recognizing the ranking' if she paid for that. The consequence is reflected in the ranking....

Now I don't wanna give a shit to QuantNet and the fuck ranking.

本来倾向于berkeley,但是cmu给了奖，好纠结> <
你怎么考虑的呀? 准备去哪?

学校名气：cmu排名高，但是berkeley商学院名气大；有人对我的建议是如果留在美国的话cmu比较好，如果回来亚洲berkeley名气占上风。

The Berkeley MFE class 2013 just graduated last week. As far I as I know, only one guy is going to Asia (Goldman Sachs SG, Comdty Strat). The others are either secured positions in NY or still looking for jobs. I don't know the full placement record.

开学时间：cmu比较早，但是相对我就少工作半年，机会成本高

心里感觉：cmu给了个奖学金感觉很好，berkeley没有奖学金还各种让我给钱读书有点小郁闷 ==〉这个理智上应该忽略
-- The tuition fees of both programs are more or less the same I think... even when you get a 21k waiver you still have to pay 50k for mscf, right?

课程时间：而且两个学校真的很难选择，我觉得cmu一年半，会比较有时间去掌握知识，但是同时也有半年机会成本
-- The difference between the class hours of programs is not as large as 1.5 vs 1.

哥大和商学院的氛围相比还是差了很多的，我觉得学费倒不必特别担心，毕竟你工作了之后还可以赚回来。CMU是S&T的target, 想去S&T CMU更好吧。我听在美国工作的学长说CMU在金融界的名望特别高，UCB……因为我没有申请，所以我也没有问……

我很不喜欢那个网页。有一次一个人问a mfe vs b mfe vs a phd.我果断推荐她去读博士。其他人根本无视博士只是在争mfe高下。可是没有什么official ranking可以参考阿。
