归国与留美的选择

各位学长学姐：
I'm a senior @ Indiana University, Kelley School of Business
GPA: 3.9/4.0
Major: Finance
Dream School: Ivy League MBA program

今年年底毕业，若留美只能在大企业做corporate finance, 归国可去Private Equity工作。小辈是土生土长的中国人，目标是工作两年后读MBA，不知大家有什么指教？

我建议你留美，美国工作经验在MBA申请方面很有优势的
而且将来campus visit会比回国方便
据说国内现在PE市场不太好，这也是个因素

另外，MBA program似乎不怎么说Ivy League，美国的MBA按M7，S16，Top30来分，有几个非Ivy的学校MBA项目很牛。你可以提早多了解了解MBA的情况。两年积累一些工作成绩，好好思考下career goal和why MBA，我看你的申请会非常有优势

一直不太明白corporate finance到底啥意思，是做企业财务？企业或财务？企业或金融？

我的理解是在公司内的财务部门，包括：
1. Controller: 主要负责会计事务，日常账目。
2. FP&A: 公司内部的财务分析和预测，财务计划。
3. Treasury: 公司内部的融资，风险管理，现金管理，流动性管理，投资决策，股息决策，Capital Structure。
4. Internal Control: 内控，内部的风险和流程控制。
5. Corporate Development: 主要做M&A，很多人都是做过投行再到公司去做的。

It depends on the corporate finance and PE experience you are going to get, as those two are very broad categories.

In general, if you want to get an MBA from a top 14 school with 2 years of work experience, the PE experience would be better. However, it depends on the types of work you do in the PE shop, the size of the deal, etc. If you do corporate finance, it would be harder to get in to a top 14 school based on 2 years of work experience (~1 year at the time of application), simply because the breadth and depth of work you do will be very limited, especially at an undergraduate level.
