The main benefit of the study of history is to dispel the illusion that people living now are significantly different from people who lived in earlier times.

观点：历史研究最大的好处是对历史发展本质规律的总结和提升。


首先，历史研究能让我们明白现在和过去存在很多相似之处。历史是连续的，现在的许多问题，如战争（war）、流行病（epidemic disease）和饥荒（famine）等等，古代都存在，只不过是具体的形式不同罢了。


其次，历史具有阶段性。不同的阶段，人们的物质生活状态（Living State）、价值观念（Values）、风俗习惯（Tradition and Custom）、所面临的问题和挑战（Challenge）都有很大差异。即使面对同样的问题，具体的表现形式也非常不一样。例如战争，以前都是冷兵器时代（Age of Cold Weapon），战争使用的都是刀剑（Knives and swords），而现在是高科技战争时代，使用的都是精确制导（Precision Guidance Weapon）武器。因此，历史学研究并不能忽视古今之间的差异。


最后，我认为尽管历史是五彩纷呈的，但是贯穿于历史发展过程中的本质规律（Intrinsic Regulation）是不变的（Invariable），历史研究的最大的好处是对历史发展本质规律的总结（Summary）和提升（Promote），并用来引发（Initiate）人类对自身发展的反思（ruminate）和校正（Calibrate）。


With the development of academic research of history, some professors claim that the main benefit of the study of history is to dispel the illusion that people living now are significantly different from people who lived in earlier times. This assertion may be true in some specific areas, but in my perspective, I think the most impressive benefit of study of history is reflected on conclusion and promotion of human society's intrinsic development regulation.


First of all, the study of history can make us understand and observe the similar things between current and previous times. Since the development of history is continual, a lot of things which are recorded in the notebooks, such as wars between countries, epidemic diseases, famine, occur time and time again in the modern society. Even though, comparing with the old age, history events have obvious different forms, the substantial content of them is the same. So through the study of history of previous society, we can make more comprehensive overview of our current lives.


However, history in various ages has its own characteristic. As the developing of human culture, people have distinctive living status, values, tradition and customs comparing with the antiquated persons. Nowadays, we are facing a lot of problems including environment pollution, which don't appear in the old age. Even though facing the same problems, such as wars, the situation is total different. Taking the war for example, the war in the old age stayed in the age of cold weapon and only knives and swords were used in that times, while in the modern war fields, so many precision guidance weapons are adopted. Thus, the research of history can not remiss this important difference between old and modern society.


Finally, although history is developing and changing all the time, the basic and intrinsic regulation is invariable. So the best advantage of history study is to summary and concentrate this common rule which can be used to guide the development of human beings and initiate the rumination of ourselves. With this useful tool, some harmful events, such as wars, violence or even serious cultural conflict, can be avoided.


In conclusion, while the study of history can disclose that people living now are significantly different from people who lived in earlier times, it is not the main benefit to us. Indeed, the most advantage provided by history study is to show the intrinsic regulation of our society.

其实想法挺好的，提纲也不错，但如果文章内容完全照提纲而没有比较具体的例子说明，就感觉文章整个的相对抽象很多，因为很多都是你自己的概括性的观点，而没有充分的推理分析之类的，就需要例子来充当这一角色了

是的是的，关键是时间不够了，例子多了就来不及打字了，还要加油！
