转自: http://www.urch.com/forums/gmat-sentence-correction/102090-holstein-cows.htmlB and D are easily eliminated because "them" does not agree with "cow". A has a number of problems: 1. The modifying phrases "providing them with high-energy feed" and "milking them regularly" are located between two clauses. It is not clear whether they modify the subject "who" (= "farmers") of the preceding clause or the subject "cows" of the following clause. 2. The comma between the two modifying phrases should be omitted. 3. The use of the progressive tense "are producing" is inappropriate to describe a general scientific truth. C is wrong because "provided with high-energy feed" and "milking them regularly" are not parallel andbecause, like A, it uses the inappropriate progressive form "are producing". E is perfect. The three adjectives "cool", "provided", and "milked" are parallel, short for: "to keep them cool, keep them provided with high-energy feed, and keep them milked regularly". And the future form "will produce" is appropriate for a general scientific truth. -- by 会员 blackTshirt (2009/7/21 22:23:00)
我支持A,楼上所说的第一个理由不成立,因为farm是单数,them只能指代cows。 而E明显存在着被动语态provided修饰前后均可的问题,这是模糊的! 跪求高人驳斥为什么不能选A而选E,因为gmac的新prep上给的官方答案也是E! |
