143. Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year. Others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
One of common themes for a student is how to spend a valuable and interesting vacation. There is a controversy over which is better for a student, one long vacation each year or several short vacations throughout the year. Different people make different choice due to their particular experience and personal preference. As far as I am concerned, I definitely support students should be given one long vacation each year. My view will be greatly substantiated in the following discussion.
To begin with, the most crucial reason I am presenting here is a long vacation is more valuable to students than several short ones. Facts witness uncountable examples. For instance, when a student majored in engine find a suitable internship in an electronic company which is related with his major and foster his future job opportunities, he will probably help finish on project thoroughly and learn a variety of practical knowledge in a relatively long vacation. But in several short ones, obviously it is almost impossible.
Next, a long vacation each year is a precious opportunity for students to make a long travel. Students are experiencing an important growing process, different custom and culture will benefit them significantly. Therefore, a long travel will wide their horizon, enrich their experience and strengthen their independence. What they learn and experience in a long travel is more comprehensive than a sightseeing tour which often makes in a shot vacation.
Admittedly, as a proverb says 'everything has its two sides', some dissenters may argue that it is difficult for students to focus on study again after a long vacation. However, I cannot agree with this opinion because they fail to realize the merits of a vacation outweigh its drawbacks.
To sum up, due to what has been mentioned above, one long vacation plays an important role in the growth of students, it not only offer a longer time for them to relax but also a more precious opportunity to learn. It is safe to reach my conclusion that students should be given one long vacation each year.
