PP 语法笔记两道题值得商榷（64 and 72）, take exam soon,please help

64:

Lactose, (a) sugar (present) in milk, is one (of simple) sugars  used in (food) preparations for infants.

The author think that C is answer because "of simple --> of the simple", but I think that the answer should be B because present should be "presented " to modify mill;

72:

The (brightly) colored kingfisher (that perches) until it sights a fish, then dives into (the water) to catch( its) prey;

The provided answer is  B; But I think that the answer should be C because

1) if the answer is B, "that " should be omitted. However, then is a Adv or adj, it cannot

   connect two verb ;

2) Here, "the water" is very strange because there is nothing to confine water.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

第一个问题在以前的帖子里面讨论过，楼主可以查一下；第二题个人感觉就是B，then肯定是先后都有动作啊，that 引导从句，就会导致前面的那个动作没有了，还望高手给点理论上的解释。

then 可以做连词么？但是我在字典里查不到啊，怎么解释 perches 和 dives into 的关系阿

72. 楼主的问题提得非常好. 虽然B的错误明显(句子没有谓语). 但是then确实不能单独连接两个动词. 句子中如果是and then就完全没问题. 在口语和非正式文体中,有少量用then连接动词的情况,但在正式文体中,这种用法还是被视为不可接受的.如果题目来源可靠,出现这样的句子在考试中,还是挺让人惊讶的.

64 是系表结构，present in/at 表示【存在，出现】加之省略（which is）就可以理解了；

72题，严格的讲（GMAT语法）只有and then才符合语法，但是如果是TOEFL题目，就难说了；

所以说这里句子的谓语应该是dive；

这个the放在这里不知道是什么用意，特指？有必要吗？

water加定冠词the常常要用复数，the waters，表示一个水域
