这题选C ，我的问题是 D, E两个选项，OG给的解释都是 "The final it has no referent." 但我不太明白，希望大家能给我一个清晰的解释，对于D 我的理解是前面是when a condition，所以后面的it 就不能指代condition了。不知道我的理解对否。然后E，最后的it 怎么指代不清呢？是说也是因为前面的the presence of a condition, 所以it 不能指代condition了么？

除了这个指代问题，还不太明白manhattan链接中E选项中一句话的解释： "indicate its presence when it is not" is incorrect - that translates as "indicate its presence when it is not presence (last word implied)" which doesn't make any sense.

从语义的角度怎么理解呢？"indicate its presence when it is not presence" 的意思不是“当它不存在的时候检测出它的存在”，说得通啊感觉？ 为什么一定要用"indicate that it is present when it is not present " 啊？

这题选A，C选项的OG解释是 "it lacks a clear referent". 我都快哭了...555 ，然后看有的帖子上的解释说这个it是多余的？那什么情况下判断it 到底是不是多余的呢？不定式后面的都是多余的么？

"indicate its presence when it is not presence" 翻译成中文是对的，可是英文里面不能这样用... 不能用 "presence" 的这个形态.. 应该是“indicate its presence when it is not present" 才会比较对，可是没有这个选项。。（可是在gmat上的话，就会不parallel) presence 的前面只能跟 its, their, his, her, Anna's, Peter's..... possessive 的形态~ 然后, 前面后面要一致~ 所以就只能是  "it is present and indicate that it is present"

E 的话根本就不对。。。太wordy 用了很多不必要的....

关于第二题的解释 "it lacks a clear referent" 是说它的 "it" 不知道是指什么，在gmat上出现这种 "it", "him" "her" "them" 要注意他们是不是清楚的。。在这里 "it” 是指wavelength?? 还是radiation??? 比较ambiguous.. 一般gmat 上的对的答案是比较logical 和 clear 的~

don't over think for grammar~~ 不然会越来越 confusing... gmat上的语法对的答案是有pattern的~

E选项，detect the presence of a condition when it is there and indicate it presence
it有两种指代的可能：presence和condition，而且it优先指代presence，因为condition是存在于of介词短语中的，it作为when从句的主语，指代condition是很弱的~~

"indicate its presence when it is not" is incorrect - that translates as "indicate its presence when it is not presence (last word implied)" which doesn't make any sense.
如果it指代的是condition，那么LZ把condition代入这个句子：
indicate the condition's presence when the condition is not
LZ应该也能看出来问题了吧？it is wordy and unclear~

同一个句子中，为了避免歧义，相同代词最好指代同一物

尝试回答一下，内容多根据旋元佑《语法俱乐部》。
不定式可以看做从句的省略，从句省略时可以看做是将从句和主句重复部分省去，这其中包括从句主语、谓语动词（必须是BE），和宾语。

这句话里it 本来是从句的宾语，但是和从句的主语相同所以省略。从句的主语是the eye无法省略就用for the eye形式加入不定式以免产生歧义。

还有以下几句话可以对比一下：
My arm is too short to touch it.
本句话没有for 介词短语。因为从句主语和主句主语相同，但是从句宾语主句中没有，所以需要补充完毕。
