题目
92. Educators should base their assessment of students'learning not on students' grasp of facts but on the abilityto explain the ideas, trends, and conceptsthat those facts illustrate.

In the statement above, the author indicate that the teachers willevaluate the academic performance of their students based on their ability toexplain their ideas rather than their ability to recite facts. In my opinion, Iconcede that the students’ ability to explain their ideas are prior to theirability to memorize facts and trends when they study certain subjects. However, their ability to recite facts may as important as their ability to explainfacts or even more important in other cases. It’s all depends on which coursesthat they are studying. In short, whether the teacher’s evaluation on thestudent’s learning will be based on their ability to explain facts is allrelied on which disciplines they are studying.

In some courses, the professor should more emphasis on the students’ability to give their own ideas rather than recite the facts since theprofessor want to develop their ability of creativity and critical thinking. For instance, after the professor provide some basic background informationabout a famous painting in an art class, he will be asking his students to givetheir own idea about the painting, to learn how to appreciate a painting bythemselves rather than just memorize the ideas of other critics. Or in thewriting classes, the professor will expect his students to implement what they’velearnt in their writings not just memorize the rules that he has told them inclass. All these subjects require the students to have the ability to utilizewhat they’ve learned into the practice rather than recite it.

In other courses, the students should be required to accumulate sufficientfacts before heading their study. These details and facts the studentsmemorized are served as the fundament on which the students can learn more thoroughlywith their courses. If the students are ask about their opinion about the WorldWar 2 in the history class. They have to grasp the historical background of thewar and all the related incidents or even the ideas of other historian beforethey can have their ideas by summarize all the facts and compare the ideas fromother historian. As the old proverb says that we stand on the shoulder of thegiants. Which refers to the fact that all the achievement the people have arebased on the accumulation laied by our predecessors and ancesters.

In most cases, the students have to combine these two ability whenstudy their courses. As is mentioned above, the facts are the basis on whichthe students can learn deeply and thoroughly. To express their own ideas needs their ability to implement what they’velearned to solve practical problems. With the procession of learning physics, the students have to initially master the basic theories and laws without whichthey will feel puzzled when encountering with the practical problems, sincethey don’t find the relationship between the situation they face and the theknowledge they’ve learned. However, the problem can only be settled when the studentsknow how to convert the knowledge they’ve learned into the tools to solve theproblems.

To sum up, the professor should evaluate the students learning on specificcourses since different courses will have its own characters which will requiredifferent ability of the students.

the author indicate
通篇看来,LZ没有真正深入地去写这篇文章,因为从头到尾,你都是用some case certain case等等抽闲的字眼,以及一些抽象的举例和分析,这样的文章表达的再好,也很难高分的
