33. As we acquire more knowledge, things do not become more comprehensible, but more complex and mysterious.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
There is no time in history where the world has changed more dramatically due to the involvement of the human being and our intelligence. One of the predominant sounds that as we acquire more knowledge, the world around us has become more comprehensible, is, however somewhat untenable to me considering the infinite desire of human and numerous problems come along with the development of technology and society.
While it may be true that the human being today is omniscient, but human's infinite desire never stops swelling. For example, although today we have fathomed that numerous horrible disease like hemophilia, results from gene, we never stop researching as we now want to find a cure for it, which could arouse a series questions. Can we cure the infant before giving birth? Can we adjust the gene of sperms or eggs to creat a healthy new baby for those who are suffering genetic diseases, instead of suggesting them not to have a baby? Indeed, as we acquire more humanity knowledge, we realize that it is unfair and cruel to deprive others right to be a parent; as we acquire more scientific knowledge, we realize that maybe we could modulate the genes of the parents. And all those realizations also have triggered further researches, and thus make things more complex and mysterious. Likewise, since we have conquered the bottom of the Pacific, our "Curiostiy" even stepped in Mars recently. USA NASA opened a new door to a new planet for us explore, on which everything is brand-new and mysterious. So, obviously our desire never dies with any significant accomplishment or achievement. As old philosopher pointed, there is no best only better.
Considering the statement from another side, as we acquire more and accomplish more, numerous problems also germinate. Internet, for instance, has become a serious issue among developed countries like the online bank accounts' safety. We created a digital world, which surely benifits us significantly, however, the safety problem has become so widespread that in some universities, Internet Safety has become a major field for students. Also, the environment problem that grows with the techonology, was not predictable when we started the industrial revolution. In fact, the nature and complexity of a certain issue may take a really long time to be exposed and examined. Hence, as time goes by, no matter how much knowledge we acquire, we will be confronting new issues that we do not know yet.
In sum, countless puzzles have been solved by us since we have been exploring the word and learning from it for a long time. Indeed, knowledge is power. Nevertheless, after a scrupulous consideration, we can conclude that by no mean can these knowledges make things more comprehensible than complex and mysterious.
