题目:ISSUE95 - " eople workmore productively in teams than individually. Teamwork requires cooperation, which motivates people much more than individual competition does." 字数:575 用时:00:30:00 日期:2012-8-1012:50:32 In our modern society, where the rapid development ofscience and technology are saturated, the discussion about teamwork andindividual work has caused wide concern all over the world. Different peoplehave different opinions due to their respective point of view. It is generallybelieved that teamwork is more productively than individual work and thecooperation can motivate people more than individual competition does. As faras I am concerned, the balance of teamwork and individual work is called for toreconcile them. First of all, noone can deny the great importance of cooperation in today's technologicaladvanced society. One can never beexpert on every aspect; however the cooperation, which is the convergence ofdifferent person each of whom excels several aspects, can provide more methodstowards a problem, making it possible to overcome different kinds of problemseasily and productively. Our rapidly developed society is filled with theexamples of great achievements accomplished by teamwork rather than individualefforts, such as successfully decoding part of human beings DNA by numbers of scientistsfrom six nations. Secondly, not all the cooperation among various coworkerscould gain a good result. As is known to all, when lacking of goodcommunication and uniform goal, resentments and dissatisfactions will come upalong with different opinions held by different people. In extreme case, conflicts which may occur between team members will destroy the foundation ofthe cooperation, let alone the productivity of teamwork. Moreover, considerable though the advantages of cooperationenjoys, there is no reason for us to reject the advantages of competition. Asthe foundational rule of nature, competition, which is based on the conceptionof the survival of the fittest, can compel people to try their biggest effortsto solve the problem no matter how difficult it is. Meanwhile, the environmentof competition can bring out not only the inspiration of the full potential butalso the increase of the working efficiency. Let’s take the change of economic policy in China for example. In 1960s,when the competition was not introduced into Chinese economic market, theregulation, everything was planned by the government, greatly diminished the positiveactivities of people to invent creative productions and badly limited thenumber of goods traded on the market. Great changes took place after attentionswere paid to the competition. People became more active to earn more incomewhich was related to the work performance. More and more creative goods andlow-cost productions are flowed into the market. We can clearly see that thebenefits of competition can never be ignored. However, every coin has two sides. It must be admitted thatsometimes, undue competition will do harm to the progress of solving problems.Jealousy and resentment, which result from excessive competition, will greatlyhamper one’s communication with others. Without effective communication withothers, little improvement will be achieved so that the productivity of thesociety will decreased. To sum up, taking what has been discussed above into account,we can safely draw the conclusion that the balance between cooperation andcompetition should be set up. In the first hand, it will be helpful tointroduce competition into cooperation to stir up the potential abilities ofthe coworkers. On the other hand, the competitive members should exchange theirinformation and thoughts to develop more effective and productive solutions. Although, both positive and negative influences of cooperation and competition exist, making proper use of them will definitely benefit our society. |
