19 Governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position.

It is reasonable to focus on solving the immediate problems of today, but abandoning solving the future problems is far from wise. That is, we never doubt the rightness to view the current affairs important, but we doubt whether the immediate problems can be solved without considering anticipated issue. And we are also suspicious such a choice in the issue is serious to the mass in a country.



First of all, we have to admit that taking the immediate problems is crucial. Nowadays, all sorts of catastrophes, including earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, and Haiphong, are happening nearly everyday around the world. For every government, without taking these emergencies serious or taking related policies to solve them, the survival of the government is a problem, let alone the development. Take the current Europe
as another example. Because almost all the countries there are surviving in the economic recession, their central policies are surely about recovering nation's economic situation and strengthen mass' confidence. That is to say, based on the urgency of current affairs, it's necessary and beneficial to focus on the problems of today.


However, we cannot separate the current affairs and the future consideration apart, viewing them as incompatible staffs. Quite the opposite, solving the anticipated problems of future is not only important, but also shares a close relationship with today problems' solving.



On the one hand, tackling with the future problems is significant. Tackling with the future problem means to make future strategies and plan in all fields, including economic, military, culture, resources, and diplomacy. For one thing, such a strategy can set a clear goal for all the members of the government. In that way, the officers get an idea about what to do, and where to go. All the energies and resources can be allocated reasonably. For another thing, knowing the government's future plan, the mass are acquired of what the government will do, and what can be taken to them, benefit or loss. Even, the people could supervise the government's manners and offer comments effectively. Therefore, the government's efficacy and causative power will be lifted, as a result of future plans.



On the other hand, ignoring the future problems, the immediate problems cannot be settled well because things are connected in the world. For example, put the future environments problems aside, Dalian government agreed the set up of Fujia chemical company, which will release much toxic gas. Yet, because the Dalian
habitants paraded to reject it, the company had to be moved. Much extra fund has to be devoted. So, as you can see it, issues of today have something to do with the future problems.
Besides, some future problems, without enough attention, will become immediate problems. If the government don't consider protecting the environment for future, the mass' living quality and the reputation of the country or city will be decreased generally. Then the government will have to devote much more fund on the environment recovering. For another problem, energy crisis has been a huge issue for many countries now, because few have attended the energy limit and new energy development.



Now, we know that government should focus on solving both the immediate problems of today and the anticipated problems of the future. After all, the two elements are related with each other closely.
