The thing is, which communicating way, e-mail, text messaging or telephone, voice-messaging will you use when you need to discuss upsetting or controversial problems with others. People may give various answers to this question. Some believe that using e-mail or text messaging can be enough to slove the problem. While others think that telephone or voice-messaging can be more efficient to slove the problem. On balance, my favor goes to using telephone or voice-messaging.



To begin with, in my opinion, upsetting or controversial problems means that they are not easy to slove, thus it is natural that we have to spend a large amount of time and energy to clarify the problems. In such a case, using telephone or voice-message is more efficient for people since people can get the information from the other side exactly just like they talk about the problem face to face. For example, we can know others' attitude from their tones. While it may be cause some issues when using e-mail or text messaging.



Take a boy and a girl talking about what to play on weekends as an example. If they use e-mail to discuss this problem. One boy suggests to fishing and offers the specific time and place. The girl responses that "you are so clever" in a sarcastic tone. Then the boy may think that she has agreed with him, thus he closes the e-mail and hence miss the latter e-mail from the girl which says that how about going to a bookstore, the one near their homes. From this example, we can see that it may always cause some problems to use e-mail or text messaging.



What's more, by using telephone or voice-messaging, you can tell whether the people you are talking to is the real one you want to talk to. While though e-mail or text messaging, you have no idea the real identify of the person who send the message. Nowadays, as is known, there are many cases of victimization relating to e-mail or text messaging. If the controversial problems relating to money, it can be more dangerous to use e-mail or text messaging.



E-mail or text messaging, of course, has their own merits. For example, it is cheaper for people to use e-mail to communicate with other people who are in the foreign countries. Also, there will be a record kept in e-mail or text message, thus it can be a guarantee that people cannot deny what they have said. We can see that many businessmen use e-mails to contact with their business partners and deciding supplying date and amount of goods in the e-mails.



However, when it comes to discuss upsetting or controversial problems, it is not so convenient and efficient to use these ways. Plus, with the advent of technology, we can also record information when we are talking to others by telephone. Therefore, I think it is a better choice to use telephone or voice-message when we discuss something controversial.
