what is your goal of getting an MBA? are you thinking about switching out of the finance industry or office location? if you want to stay within finance, I don't believe getting an mba will help you, since you are already a VP.

if you are at tier 1 i-bank, there should be plenty of resources on mba application, usually available at the analyst level.

it all depends on your essays. two people i know with similar backgrounds, ivy under, VP with buldge bracket, applied for h/s/w, but didn't get in their top choices. one guy is a trader, he changed to another bank after giving up on bschool. the other is a quant, he switched to another team. i think both of them are doing fine without mba now. btw, the average compensation after mba could be lower than your current one.

the only situation that an mba makes sense is that you want to have a better school name on your resume or you want to change career.

你这种情况，再撑两年，EMBA得了，首先工作时间这么长了，又是VP了，你想H/S就非常有难度了。进个W,CBS啥的，出来说不定还是一样的职位，一样的工作，值得么，还浪费两年。

我在CBS班上有个同学以前在香港banking也是做到VP才来读的，后来留在美国一家multi-strategy hedge fund 了。不过这个人不是中国护照。

career switcher? tons of head hunters would kill to get you placed. why don't you contact them instead of spending $200,000 on MBA and forgoing your million dollar pay + bonuses...

看来大家都不觉得成绩是问题反而动机是问题 公司是ms/gs/jp 具体就不透露了 我做的是risk management 所以pay 没大家说的那么高 具体目标就是为了换工作到pe vc 之类 美国现在经济不好同时也考虑转到亚洲区

Switching to PE/VC is difficult even from a top-tier MBA. people who land jobs at reputable PE/VC firms in the US rely on their network prior to MBA. I believe most PE/VC hire at the analyst level from b-school. Most look for very specific industry knowledge, so that you can contribute right away. PE/VC activities are picking up in mainland China, but mostly from smaller local players, since pulling money out of China is troublesome for global firms. The barrier to entry into Chinese PE/VC is lower, and your experience right now may suffice, just have to network a bit.

有道理，谢谢建议，感觉投资回报也不是很成正比。让我我想想还有什么别的可以突破职业瓶颈的路线。不过MBA还是想申一下，看看命运怎么安排。

risk mgt 转 PE/VC 倒是没听过，因为其实没有什么transferable skills
PE/VC一般都招banking，risk即使能转估计也很难进first tier，这样你的pay还是会大打折扣，而且PE/VC还是挺看pedigree的，转进去了发展也会举步维艰。个人意见。

不懂你为什么做到VP才想读MBA，是不是太晚了？既然知道不想做risk一辈子为什么没早跳出来。
