Dear Delia & BraveMBA,

Is 3 years working experience (by Fall 2005) too short for Ivey application? And does not being in a managerment position hurt?

Hi Delphine18,

Regarding the working experience, 3 years of working experience is enough for Ivey application. The school require minimum of 2 years of working experience, however, the average working experience is 5.5 years.  In my class, the yougest student is only 22 years old.

I think 3 years of working experience is ok, as long as you demonstrate your unique profile. Holding a management position is not necessary to apply for MBA. However, you must have some leading experience, such as project leader. Whether the project is big or small is not important. The key is how you describe your role in that leading role. How do you motivate team member? How do you allocate resources? How do you meet deadline?...... In addition, in your essay, you need to convince the reader that you have high potential.

Good luck!

Delia

We are now in Exam and report time. If you can not get instant response, accept apologies from us.

Tips of Ivey:

Ivey likes aggressive and balanced applicants. Open you mouth to Ivey as possible as you can. This will definitely help you successfully get offer from Ivey.

gap

would you kindly advice what the GAPs mean in below essay question?

Question about IVEY essay topic N4.
What does this topic mean?

"Account for any gaps in your work experience since your undergraduate degree (if applicable). (250 words)"

To people interested in Ivey:

Ivey just launched a brand-new visitor plan last week. To people who live in Southern Ontario, you don't pay for the trip for class visit. Even to people who are still in China, you may get a chance to get funding up to $1,200 to finance your trip to Canada. What a great news! Please go to the website of http://www.thinkivey.com/  to check out the details

I strongly recommend all applicants visit the school first before making such a critical decision.

Welcome to Ivey! See you there!

Hi,Deliap and BraveMBA: Thanks for kind efforts to provide us so much valuable info. Would you be so kind to check and give some advice on my individual case? My roughly detailed info is as flwg:

GMAT:630    AWA:4.0

English speaking country is OK,but I prefer Northern America

Good good study,day day up!

Hi Tractor,

Your whole profile is great for Ivey since Ivey emphasizes on general management. Your GMAT score is a little bit lower than Ivey average as well as your AWA. Don't worry too much, that's not a big deal. Your experience can offset it.

I can't understand your chance of admission. In your case, it depends on your essays writing and reference letter and interview. As far as I know, Ivey admission committee read your essays before they know your GMAT or TOEFL or GPA. So if you have good essays, at least you passed the first screening.

Due to privacy act, i can't give you the profile of other Ivey students.

It seems you are not landed immigrant. Otherwise, you can visit school first before submit your application.

Thank Deliap!

Highly appreicated your kind evaluation! Exploring the website of Ivey, I get to know that there is a course of logistics in the list of selective courses. Can you talk sth about the concentration of supply chain management in Ivey? Does the school plan to develop this field? Understanding that tz question may be out of your scope, pls just keep me informed of what you know.

Millions of thanks!
