Hi Soimfriend,

Whether you are international student or landed immigrant doesn't affect the decison of admission.

The only advantage of landed immigrant is to save time and financial cost of sending application package.  You can call the school conveniently without time difference.

Hope it's helpful to you.

Delia

Hi, Bravemba, today I received an e-mail from Ivey. Since I talked with Ivey representatives when I visited MBA Fair a couple weeks ago, they invited me to participate in the dinner sessions or lunch sessions next week. Did you guys take part in such sessions? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

willandgrace,

To be honest, I didn't attend any Ivey's fair before my entry into Ivey. But as I know, showing up in such event will benefit you much. If it is not that inconvenient to you, why not have a try? However, you don't have to attend it.

Good luck

Tony 6,

Dont worry too much about the GPA. I got a GPA less than 80, (around 75) and I am now sitting at Ivey. The program may be a little bit tough becasue everyday you may be overwhelmed in the cases, reports, presentations and exams. But I believe all Chinese guys here can manage them somehow. While, more important, I also believe this two years Ivey experience will surely give you the real confidence and capability to handle tones of pressure in your future career hereafter.

I still remeber what an Ivey Prof told me before I came here: we are not looking at sort of GPA, sort of percentile, and sort of academic "records". We are realistic because we know different schools could give you different such grades and ranking, and they could be confusing and misleading. That's the way differentiates Ivey from other schools. Instead we are looking at your potential, we are looking at your uniqueness, and we are looking at your leadership quality as a whole.

On the other hand, when I sit at Ivey and watch, I notice that real contributions in the class dicussion mostly came from real business experiences rather than from books which we learnt 5 or 10 years ago. We are living in a so fast-chaning world. So, never expect you can rely on those oldated stuff to survive in a top B-school. The only key is learning from time to time with your intelligence, with your diligence, and with your big heart.

I never regret I chose Ivey. And I am happy to find a warm Chinese community here. We set up Chinese peer support, we set up Chinese mentor sessions, and we all helped each other to overcome all kinds of possible difficulties. We do value individual competitions, but more important we do share whatever we find helpful and supportive. Here we study and live like a big family. I enjoy and cherish such close connections of each other on which we can build up a strong Ivey nerwork in both persoanl and career life from now on.

Today I got a little time to relax, after our first intense case exam. I am writing this stuff to share with you guys my real feeling of struggling on a tough road. Wish this could give you some lights on your upcoming MBA application.

Jasminezhao1975 & rainmaker

I don't know the exact number. But, to my knowledge, there are very few applicants who can waive full-tuition. As I know, some of mainland Chinese students this year got scholarship from 5000 to 20000 (2 yrs). So, I suggest you try as possible as you can to apply scholarship (there will be an extra essay). Ivey evaluates applicants from your whole picture rather than just GMAT/TOEFL, GPA. This rule also works in scholarship application.

Delia, if you have latest information about scholarship, please give your words.

Good luck.

Brave
