What is a very important skill a person should learn inorder to be successful in the world today? Choose one skill and use specificreasons and examples to support your choice.

The innovations and development of information technologyhave changed the world dramatically. In the current world where people are moreconnected than ever, I think the skill of effective communication is among themakings of successful life.  I have belowreasons.

To begin with, nowadays people have tremendous ways toconnect into the world.  By using mobilephones and internet, people can get in touch with each other via applicationssuch as emails, blogs, twitter and facebook. These new technologies reshape theway of communication. The increased dimensions of communication in turninfluence various aspects of the society, namely, socialization, business andeducation, etc.   To success in thissociety, one has to master the way to effective communicate.  For example, a man needs to have the abilityto choose the optimum channel to share information to his friends.  A message, if conveyed by an inappropriatechannel, will not be effectively noticed and replied by the intended receiver.A simple but urgent message is ideal to be sent via instant messaging applicationon the mobile phone so that the receiver will get notified in a second,however, the same message, if sent via email, will probably not be seen by thereceiver in time because it could be lost in the email jams.

Second, effective communication will not causemisunderstanding which may delay or detriment the success of businessactivities. In the current business world, the globalization of economy isreaching almost every parts of the planet, and people from one country aredoing business with people from other countries. If the two parties are speakingdifferent languages, the effective way of communication is crucial. The twoparties probably have to communicate in English, so the effective and correctlyway of using English in business is a prerequisite in triumph business.  Moreover, understanding and knowing how tocope with the cultural differences, a significant topic the course of effectivecommunication, are also very important for one to succeed in the businessworld.

Last but not least, a man will have more compassion, abetter understanding and impartial thoughts and attitude to the world if he isable to leverage the fast growing internet technologies to effectivecommunicate. The cultural and ideological barriers between people which oftencause disturbances and conflictions in the world will be mitigated and even eliminatedif people become open-minded and compassionate through the improving skills ofeffective communication. Without this learnable ability, a man may find himselfin an isolated and unpleasant situation which will not result in successfullife.
