好久不做了,从这里开始补吧 1'31 BA was a well-known activist and lawyer in the United States Congress who supported women's rights and civil rights. She acted on her beliefs, and she did know about the lives of common Americans.
1'29 Bella married Martin, who was her best friend and supporter. She became a lawyer and began to wear large hats in the nineteen forties, and she represented the rights of labor union workers. Later, she became an anti-war activist who organized a group called Woman Strike for Peace. And after that, she became a leader of the women's rights movement.
1'27 Bella was elected to Congress when she was 50. She wanted to withdraw the troops from Vietnam, but it did not work. She also support many programs to help American families. Although she did not succeed, she never gave up.
1'38 She served in the House of Representatives for six years before she gave up her seat. For twenty more years, she continued working on women's rights. And she wrote two books.
1'12 Bella thought the equal rights for women was the most important issue that need American government to solve. Many women supported Bella because of her efforts. Of course, there are some people did not like her. However, we can not deny her on her attributes to the society. Bella died in 1998 and many of her friends missed her a lot. |
