求解答！一个manhattan的问题! twice higher than 为什么错呢？

后面的练习题的一个句子
The CEO earns twice higher than the average employee at this company.
twice higher than 错误，两个原因：
1. twice can never modify higher, because the correct idiom is twice as high as.
2. higher, like lower, can never function as an adverb in a numerical comparison. 这个我懂了， 就是在数量的比较上higher 只能作为为形容词，不能修饰earns

可是第一个为什么的？像 twice more/ taller/ larger than 这种都不对吗？

I second you.
我记得Ron说过这个问题，结论就是——编verbal题目的人不懂数学。数学里面twice larger than和twice as large as完全不是一回事。没办法，GMAT is god.  //shrug

谢谢!搜了一下，higher than前面跟的一般都是百分数或者是分数，可能用不来twice这种吧...

记得以前的老师讲语法的时候
twice high than 是三倍的意思
twice as high as 是两倍的意思。。。。

但是反正GMAT里看见这种就果断X掉好了。。。
