如果后半句不加that的话，就会出现两句话并列而没有连词连接的情况。

Manhattan(P199): the dash is a flexible punctation mark that the GMAT occasionally employs. You can use a dash as an emphatic comma, semicolon, or colon.
In short, you cannot really go wrong with a dash!

所以dash当分号时是可以独立引导两个逻辑关系紧密但完整的句子的。所以我觉得不能因为一个dash就判断后面要加that

A 从 后面跟的 reducing   从语意 来理解 可能 会是  ancestor 或者是 event  有点 模糊 ...

同问  分词为啥错了饿 因为经历了一些事儿 导致下降的人口 完事儿后blablabla...  伴随原因状从 不可以么？ 纯菜求解！！！

COMMA + VERBing should modify the NEAREST preceding subject and verb.

我读这题时总觉得最后一句话好奇怪，“thus our genetic variation” 如果翻译的话，如何理解合适呢？我直译过来就是“因此我们的遗传变异”？总觉得好别扭啊 我总觉得应该是“因为我们的祖先。。。。。，所以导致产生遗传变异”

----at some time ... our ancestoers suffered an event that greatly reduced their numbers and thus our genetic variation: ... 遇到一些事降低了他们的数量，并以这种方式（降低）了基因变异
thus有一种用法：in this manner/in this way,翻译成中文：像这样，以这种方式
我觉得这里应该是这个意思
