本题中的 some formed as commercial ventures, others as religious havens, 究竟是什么语法，GMATPrep2008 语法笔记 V 2.02答案的解释中说是独立主格结构，但是我查过独立主格语法后发现，独立主格常用包括：名词(代词)+现在分词、过去分词；名词(代词)+不定式；名词(代词) +介词短语，那么本句中的formed显然不属于上述情况，那么应该怎么理解formed，是过去式还是被动式，这里是不是独立主格，还有some formed as commercial ventures, others as religious havens,如果不是独立主格而是独立句子那么前面加上while似乎更通顺。

其实就是一个修饰语:
LZ Turboswm, entered CD as a GMAT student, had a written plan for taking the test.

一个意思。

这里的entered和题里的formed一样，简单的过去分词，用来描述逗号前面的主语，唯一的trick就是加了some……others……

本题中究竟是采用什么语法我还是不清楚，我印象中几乎没有看过这种结构的句子。

对，你的句子是对的，这个例子跟你的第2种句子是一样的（我不知怎么的忘打who了）
some...other... 就是代替who的

独立主格有三种形式：     prep 173.                                                             1)一般形式：n.+v-ed/v-ing/介词短语/形容词短语
2)with形式：with+宾语+宾补，如：with+n.+v-ed/v-ing/介词短语/形容词短语
3)each/some形式等词 （必须前面有复数名词,强调的是句尾名词）：each+v-ed/v-ing/介词短语/形容词短语，each+n.+介词短语                                                         独立主格表示对主句的一个信息补充说明，做状语功能。不要求逻辑主语，但要求和主句有逻辑关系。独立主格形式中都不是完整句子<==>同位语结构，一般是N.,n+that从句：that从句后是完整句子（前者状语，后者定语，不可互换）
这里注意 each with 结构是对的， with each 是错的

这才是完整的独立主格
